We made it!

Well, we did it, made it through another term:) I learned a great deal from our compII class! First, I learned just how important time management is when writing a paper! Second, I learned my thesis statement would need tweaking many times along the way. Lastly, I think the revision techniques will be a great help when writing future papers.

I have definitely enjoyed blogging! At first, I was a little skeptical! I am going to do my very best to keep up my blog.

I wish you all the very best and hope we can stay in touch via our blogs!

Unit 9

I cannot believe unit nine is already here! This term has gone by very fast. I am definitely feeling a little more confident in my writing ability and feel a bit more comfortable sharing my writing. Prof J. is a great instructor; I really enjoyed learning from her. I also enjoyed learning with and from my classmates! I know we all have busy lives, but, I hope you all will keep blogging so we can stay in touch:) My goal is to post to my blog once week and to “check in” and see how everyone doing. I wish you all the best of luck! Take care and keep in touch.

Blogging

Hope everyone’s weekend is off to a good start. At first, I was not sure if I would care for blogging, but I actually really like it. I would like to spend a little more time on my blog if possible. I will definitely keep blogging after the course is over, I would like to keep up with everyone. I am hoping to blog at least once a week. I think blogging with our classmates is a great way of getting to know one another.

It is hard to believe this term is almost over! I have been working on revising my final paper for our comp class; it is still a work in progress (lol)!

Had a nice dinner with some family earlier and one of my nieces is spending the weekend with us:) I am really looking forward to spending the rest of the weekend hanging out with her and my son. Have a great weekend everyone!

Research Papers

Week seven already, wow! So, we have all been working hard on our research papers, and this week, we are sharing them with our peers. I know peer review can be very helpful, but it can also be a bit intimidating. I am feeling a little better about sharing my writing. I used dread even the thought of having to share my writing, with anyone. I think the more you do it, the better you get, and that builds your confidence.
I found a lot of great information regarding my topic, which is Aspergers Syndrome. As I have mentioned before, my son has AS. So, I have researched the topic before and had some previous knowledge on the subject. At first, I found it a bit difficult to write a research paper on this subject; it was hard not to include my real-life situations and knowledge. It took me a while, but, I got myself straight (lol). I was also in such awe as I was retrieving information; it was like someone was writing about my son. It was kind of nice to be able to take the time to dig deeper into this disorder, it has given me an even better understanding of his ways of thinking and communicating. I found some great tips for parents of AS kids, and for a short time, I felt like I wasn’t going this alone.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! We have been having beautiful weather here in PA, it’s about time, and it was really starting to get to me!

Week Six.......

This past six weeks has gone by fast! Like a lot of you, I am feeling a little stressed. Actually, a lot stressed! I think I have mentioned before that my son has ASD and ADHD. Unfortunately, he has been experiencing some other medical problems and we have to travel two hours one way to see his specialist. So between working (part-time), being a single mom, and full time student things are crazy. I have really enjoyed all my classes at Kaplan thus far and expect a lot from myself academically. I have gotten little stressed over my classes before, but nothing like the last few weeks. Last night I realized I was dreading my schoolwork, feeling consumed and overwhelmed by it. Which is not at all like me, so, I am trying to cut myself a little slack. Still working on my rough draft but, I am almost finished. Well, back to work for me, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

It’s Saturday!

Hope everyone’s weekend if off to a good start. I just finished my prewriting techniques. Next, I am going to do more research, I am working on two papers. I think our comp II class has picked some very interesting topics!

Any American Idol fans out there? I would love to hear your thoughts and who your favorites are.

Also, I would love to hear your book suggestions and I shared some of my favorite authors in my previous post.

Well, the sun is finally shining here in PA, it is still cold and there is still snow on the ground, but the sunshine feels good!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Looking for book recommendations

I can’t believe its Monday already (lol). Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Well, It has been a few days since I blogged, I have been a bit under the weather, I have bronchitis and it is slowing me down a bit. I did have a nice surprise this weekend; my mom came for a visit!

I think I mentioned before that I love to read. Are there any avid readers out there? I enjoy crime novels and mysteries. So, if anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them. Some of my favorite authors are James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Jonathon Kellerman, Faye Kellerman, John Lutz, and Alafair Burke (just to name a few).

Have a great week everyone!
